Subzero Cloud Control

The temperature might not be above zero, but you can go ahead and wrap yourself up in the nerdiest podcast 9 Clouds has to offer. We took a couple weeks off to navigate our way around the holiday season, but we’re looking forward to some great news in 2010. Let’s get it going:

Nerd Front
Foursquare – This mobile geo-based app is taking the social web by storm and now you can play it from anywhere (until recently, it was only available in specific cities). Check-in at your favorite local spots and compete with friends to gain internet-mayorship at the locations you visit most frequently.

Bump – Rather than carry around a stack of business cards, with this app all you have to do is grab your phone and tap it against another phone to exchange contact information. Fun and functional? That’s a win.

Evernote – 2009′s most popular app. Evernote allows users to take pictures of text (hand-written or type-printed) and then translate that text into a database. Evernote does a really good job of recognizing handwriting and users can organize the database by categories for easy organization.

ThePostSD App – Read South Dakota’s alternative online news source from your iPhone or iPod Touch and stay informed on the go.

Local Front
South Dakota Geeks – Check out this social group of geeks discussing geeky things in South Dakota. Network with fellow geeks and talk about technology while learning some great geeky information.

OTA Sessions – We can’t give you much information about OTA, but it is going to be an awesome local conference with a bunch of nationally influential speakers from various backgrounds. Mark it down on your calender for March 26. Contact Hugh Weber from Deep Bench to help out, advertise, or ask any questions.

What’s on Your Mind?
We took Cloud Control on the road to the Copper Lounge for thoughts from our friends Brian Rupert and Michael Lehmkuhl. Listen up for some awesome thoughts from two of the premier web guys the Midwest has to offer.

Thanks for joining us this week and welcome to 2010. We’ll leave you with one final question – what is your favorite app? Leave it in the comments here and we’ll be looking forward to checking out some of your favorites.

Remember to contact us with any thoughts, questions or suggestions on Twitter or Facebook. We’d love to chat with you or do an interview with you for a future episode of Cloud Control.
